Updating Quality Measures for 2017

The Office of Health Care Statistics (OHCS) is currently working with the Transparency Advisory Group (TAG), a subcommittee of the Health Data Committee (HDC), on the selection of three new quality measures for early 2017 reporting. Input from a variety of healthcare partners has been requested and received during the ongoing selection process.

The 2016 quality measures selected by OHCS and TAG were: 1) avoidance of antibiotic use for adults with acute bronchitis and, 2) hemoglobin A1c testing (used for individuals with diabetes). These two measures will be updated with newly available OHCS All Payer Claims Data (APCD) and healthcare facility data, along with the additional three measures selected by the TAG. The new measures will be finalized by the end of 2016.

The Transparency Advisory Group meetings are open to public and attendance is welcomed. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Utah Department of Health Cannon Building. Please see the meeting notice board in the lobby area for the room number of that day’s meeting.
